Eve's Story
Eve's Story
When I was 13 years old, I went to Young Life camp for the first time. For me, the camp was more about joy and dressing up nicely than about the things we talked about during clubs and small groups.
I was still young, which is probably why I didn’t fully grasp what it was about. That year, I got distant from my leader as well. Whenever she tried to meet up with me, I would make excuses and ignore her calls and messages.
The next year, I went to camp again, but this time everything was completely different. My father had already moved away, and I had closed myself off and didn’t talk to anyone.
When my leader tried to ask me something, I just ran away, not wanting to talk.
One day, a problem arose in our small group, so I went to talk to the other kids. But my leader stopped me, and at that moment, it seemed like I couldn’t run away anymore. We talked for about an hour, and she kept trying to understand what was happening to me. I stayed silent, feeling so bad that I didn’t even hear her words. But eventually, I told her that my father had left the country.
Mariam heard me. She said that if I trusted God, and surrounded myself with good friends, I would get through that period more easily. But I still didn’t understand her words. I listened, and said “yes” just to stop her from talking. The topic was just too painful for me.
Days passed, and I realized that I couldn’t take it anymore. I knew I needed to be with my father.
That night, prayed with great longing and pain.
I remembered the words from the Bible:
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move,’ and it will move. And nothing will be impossible for you.”
I prayed with very little faith… and in the morning I received my answer.
From that day on, everything changed. I realized that every right decision in my life begins with trusting God. And the peace, hope, and love I received from Him are irreplaceable.
