The seeds he plants
I absolutely love our small groups.
All year, we connect with kids from club, hanging out each week and talking about stuff that really matters. But honestly? Sometimes I felt like it was all going in one ear and out the other. The girls would get silly, interrupt me and zone out during a Bible story.
I'd wonder if these groups were even making a difference. But I kept doing it.
Then at camp, on the night we set aside for kids to have some alone time with God, everything changed. I had no idea what would happen and just trusted God was up to something big.
After club, hundreds of kids spread out across this huge field under the stars. I was heading to the prayer spot when Tania, one of the girls in my small group, found me. She started opening up about her life, family, plans and problems.
When the prayer time was about to start, she hugged me and said, "Lisa, this is so special. Can you pray for me right now? Just talk to God about me."
It was raw and real and beautiful. But the night wasn't done.
Later, during our large group time, two of my quietest girls — who usually never speak up — started asking deep questions and thinking out loud.
I was stunned.
Then it happened: they started bringing up all the stories and conversations we'd had in small group all year long.
That moment I saw the seeds I'd planted had finally taken root. I realized that God is working in each of their hearts in His own way, and He lets me be a part of it.
This is why we do what we do.
That night, more kids found the light and started their way toward God.
